Record From Your Computer in Vista
10th Apr 2009 00:31amThis is a feature that a lot of people who liked to record Skype calls, record streaming audio and other various audio recording tasks used when on Windows XP, however upon using Windows Vista you cannot find the "Stereo" / "Line in" option in your Recording Devices.
Many people believed that Microsoft had got rid of it, however it's still there... it's just hidden. Here is how to get it working again.
1) Right click on your volume option down in the system tray and selected "Recording Devices".
You should now see something like this (usually listing your microphone devices).
2) Right click in the white-space and select "Show Disabled Devices".
You should now see a new device usually titled "Stereo Mix". Right click it and select "Enable".
3) Now if you load up your audio recording program (for my example, I'll be using Audacity). Head to the Options / Preferences and change the Recording Device in your audio program to "Stereo Mix".
Now when you have something playing (i.e; like a DVD or something) you can now record what you're hearing on there straight onto your audio program. :)

History of Microsoft Windows
24th Mar 2009 05:52amMicrosoft Windows 7 has already been released as a Beta version recently and the Release Candidate version is rumoured to be due around May time. Now it doesn't seem all that long ago that I remember my Father showing me Microsoft Windows XP and I was well excited! The way the screen faded to grey when you clicked the Shut Down option. It was all amazing. Now we've had Windows XP, Windows Vista and coming soon Windows 7 - also with Microsoft Windows 8 in the pipeline - I thought I'd have a little trip down memory lane and have a look at how Microsoft's Operating Systems have changed over time. Below is a list of them all, with a nice little picture to accompany them.
Microsoft Windows 1.0 (Released: 20th November 1985)

Microsoft Windows 2.0 (Released: November 1987)

Microsoft Windows 3.0 (Released: 22nd May 1990)

Microsoft Windows 95 (Released: 24th August 1995)

Microsoft Windows 98 (Released: 25th June 1998)

Microsoft Windows Me (Released: 14th September 2000)

Microsoft Windows XP (Released: 25th October 2001)

Microsoft Windows Vista (Released: 30th January 2007)

Microsoft Windows 7 (Released: 2009-2010)

Don't things change! (Sorry about the quality of some of the images)

Windows 8
26th Sep 2008 07:14am
Yes, you read the title correct, Windows 8 is defenately coming. How do I know? Well obviously browsing several sources online and also with proof of it, even though they're not commenting at the moment, is Microsoft themselves. They done exactly what Sony did a while back ... posted for a job on their site with information on what it's about. The Microsoft Job post on the Microsoft website read:
The core engine is also being reworked to provide dramatic performance
improvements. We will also soon be starting major improvements for
Windows 8 where we will be including innovative features which
will revolutionize file access in branch offices.
Pictures? There's none yet and if there was - I ain't posting them. Microsoft are already getting annoyed with people posting screenshots of products in Windows 7. Oh well.. they released it as a beta version for people to test... soooooo... this is what Microsoft Paint is to look like in Microsoft Windows 7 (not 8!) and also the calculator has undergone a transformation (as you can see on the right).

Getting .htaccess on AppServ (Windows) to work
5th Feb 2008 11:35amGetting .htaccess files to work on AppServ (Windows version) a lot of peoples computers doesn't seem to work, I myself am one of those people, so I fiddled around the other day and got it working - so hopefully if you follow this tutorial you'll understand how to get it to work and it should work for you.
First of all if you locate your Apache folder (within your AppServ folder, usually installed directly on your C drive) and go into a folder called "conf", then open the file called "httpd.conf".
Find:
#LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so
Replace:
LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so
Removing the '#' (hash) symbol will enable the rewrite module. (Note: Some configurations are already loaded, if so ignore it)
Find:
AccessFileName .htaccess
Replace:
AccessFileName my.htaccess
Changing this from .htaccess to my.htaccess means that your .htaccess files will have to be called "my.htaccess" (However when you upload them to a real web server online then you'll need to rename them back to .htaccess)
Now restart your Apache server (This can be done by going into the Apache folder, then into the "bin" folder and running the program "ApacheMonitor.exe", opening it from the system tray and clicking "Restart")
